Dr. Albert knew she wanted to be a veterinarian since the age of 8 when she saw her family dog get hit by a car and die. Her veterinary school class was the first class at Purdue University to have more women then men! A world traveler growing up, Dr. Albert was drawn to Kentucky by a job advertisement that said “applicant must love animals!” She started her career as a mixed animal veterinarian but after being exposed to rabies while pregnant with her daughter, she transitioned to becoming a small animal veterinarian.

Dr. Albert lives with her husband, daughter and granddaughter on a 10 acre hobby farm. She also has two sons and five other grandchildren that impress her with the way they balance all of their activities!

An animal lover from birth, Dr. Carnes actually took a roundabout way to becoming a veterinarian. She was not sure becoming a second generation veterinarian was the way to go when she was in college, so got an accounting degree. But, after a year of working at a CPA firm she realized she did not want a desk job, so back to the career drawing board! Veterinary medicine felt like a natural fit because of the way she was raised. She attended University of Illinois for veterinary school and then, she missed the business world so got her MBA from Bellarmine University. She feels she absolutely got it right with this second career!

Dr. Carnes is a single mom and is thoroughly enjoying watching her daughter grow and experience things for the first time!
